A new start;
New state, new house, new pens, new chooks;
In winter 2017 we decided to move to Holbrook NSW, since I was commuting from Wagga to Melbourne every second weekend.
This will allow me to set up brand new pens, a new brooding and incubation shed, and have everything just perfect.
In the 2017/2018 season Lapwing poultry will be concentrating on the following breeds.
- Pekin bantams in various colours, silk and flat feather.
- Indian Runner ducks in trout.
- Australian Call ducks in magpie, blue mallard, apricot mallard and natural.
- Bantam buff Orpingtons.
Silked Pekin bantams
I began with silked Pekin bantams in 2014 when I was able to purchase two 4 week old silked chicks from a lady outside of Melbourne. They were both a lavender shade. Since then their progeny have come leaps and bounds. This will be the 4th year of breeding this variety and they are only improving.
