Indian Runner ducks - trout
-Allan Hale was lovely enough to let me buy a trio of his trout Indian Runner ducks after I missed out on a pair at the Australia Waterfowl Show/Auction in Goulburn.
- These guys are crazy but they're the most beautiful ducks to look at and they look stunning grazing in the yard.
Silked Pekins
- The silked Pekins became part of Lapwing Poultry in 2015 when I purchased two cross-bred hens. They already exhibited many Pekin like characteristics.
- I've been working on this line off and on since then with some bad luck and set backs along the way. However this season I think I have a real handle on breeding them and already have a couple of dozen good looking chicks in the brooder.
Australian Call ducks
- I'd always wanted some Call ducks. They seemed so sweet and small when I'd seen them at shows. However in 2018 I finally had the pen set up to enjoy them. So I decided to do 4 colours!
- My blue mallard pen consists on blue mallard ducks and blue mallard and apricot drakes. Hopefully I will get a nice variety of ducklings from this pen.
- My magpies are an extremely rare colour in Calls with only a few breeders in Australia having them. Hopefully from this mating (blue magpie to blue magpie) I will produce black magpie, blue magpie and silver magpie as well as a number of bibbed birds.
